The Egyptian Museum of Barcelona was opened in 1993. The first collection contained only 300 specimens that primarily related to funerary and religious beliefs. Now it has around one thousand pieces of antiquity what gives a good picture of the life and customs of Egypt's ancient civilization. This wide range collection makes it one of the best exhibitions of Ancient Egypt in Europe.

The museum's permanent exposition is divided into few thematic sections, which together presents the complete vision of the pharaoh civilization.

Apart from the permanent and temporary exhibitions museum also organizes courses, workshops, conferences and other events open to the public.
