Catalan cuisine bases mainly on a fresh vegatables (in particular: tomatoes, garlic, aubergine, peppers), flour products (bread and pastas), olive oil (particulary from Arbequin), cheeses, meats (beef and mutton) and many kinds of fishes (anchovy, sardina, tuna and cod) and seafood (squids and shrimps).
