Casa Vicens Carrer de les Carolines, 24 Grácia district Barcelona
The house is the property of a private owner and its interior cannot be visited. The only possibility to see it inside appears on Saint Rita's Day (May 22) when it's open to public.
Casa Vicens is an early example of work, and the first important project of the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudí. This residential villa was built between 1883 and 1888 for the industrialist Manuel Vicens. In 2005 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and currently is for sale.
The building expresses an explosion of imagination and brilliant ideas characteristic for Gaudí. It is asymmetrical, constructed of undressed stone, red bricks and colored ceramic tiles. The style of the house shows also some influence of Moorish architecture - it can be seen, in example, in the form of rooftop towers.
