Beaches in Barcelona Barcelona is a fantastic city, one of the most tourist destinations in the whole world. It's not only because of this great variety of monuments and beautiful places, but also due to its perfect location - on the coast line, with the direct access to the Mediterranean Sea.
Along the entire coast are situated seven beaches. Their total length is about 4,5 kilometres. The largest, oldest and most visited are the Barceloneta and Sant Sebastiá beach (both of about 1,1 km). The other four: Nova Icária, Bogatell, Nova Mar Bella i Llevant are located on the other side of Olympic Port and extends on lengths from 400 to 640 metres. They were created during restructuring works in the city before the Summer Olimpics in 1992.
